Join our team at Starr International Brasil SeguradoraAbout the Company - Starr Insurance Companies is a leading insurance and investment organization, providing commercial property and casualty insurance, including travel and accident coverage, to almost every imaginable business and industry in virtually every part of the world.About the Role - We are looking for a Senior Underwriter that will support the Starr Insurance Companies' insurance operations in São Paulo, Brazil and, will be responsible for underwriting and selling the following lines of business: General Liability and Environmental Impairment Liability.ResponsibilitiesTo underwrite the Liability & Environmental Insurance portfolio for Brazil based on delegated underwriting authority and with underwriting and administrative support from Liability & Environmental Manager.Develop new business and renewal submissions for insurance and inward reinsurance to create a well-balanced and profitable Liability & Environmental insurance portfolio.Review and analysis of wording for new coverages offerings.Provide Liability and Environmental underwriting support to Starr offices elsewhere in the Latin America region as needed.Place facultative reinsurance following Home Office guidelines as well as local regulations.Filing & documentation of Facultative support where applicable.Request of policy issuance mandatory information (Local regulators request for Anti Laundering & Compliance and Taxes information) to brokers & clients.Request and follow up of "Large Risks" policy documentation & administrative procedure.Work with Brazil's and other regional profit center managers (Aviation, Marine, A&H, Financial Lines and Tech) to develop cross-marketing opportunities.Create a list of target accounts and develop strategies to deal with such business.Meet regularly with local Brokers and Risk Managers.Assist STARR Liability & Environmental Home Office team and other international operations in the local placement of multinational business.Advise clients and brokers on products and coverages.Collaborate in the analysis and administration of the Casualty reinsurance treaty.Liaise with management to report on results and evolution of portfolio.Provide & update KPI reports.Collaborate in the analysis of specific claim situations when requested.Required SkillsA minimum of 6 years of substantive experience as an GL or EIL Underwriter in complex accounts.Strong commercial skills on dealing with mega brokers.Knowledge of commercial insurance and reinsurance regulatory laws and procedures.Understanding of commercial insurance business operations and processes.Understanding of the insurance regulatory framework and its practical application to day-to-day business.Attention to detail and organizational skills.Strong writing, analytical, project management, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills.Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and oral.English language, professional proficiency required.Spanish desired but not required.Preferred SkillsCandidate must be able to:Build and maintain commercial relationships with the main Brokers.Work well both individually and in a collaborative environment.Handle multiple projects with varying degrees of urgency.Participate in developing company and business strategic and operational goals for the year.Exercise sound judgment, decision-making, and discretion.
