Key Challenges & Responsibilities for this Role:
* Product Supply: Ensure timely, quality, and cost-effective supply across different product lines.
* Supplier Negotiation: Lead contract negotiations with suppliers leveraging market insights, engineering specifications, complex datasets, pricing tools, and macroeconomic variables to achieve a highly efficient contract in terms of cost, quality, payment terms, and delivery terms.
* Negotiation Foundation: Utilize insights gained from engineering analyses as a foundation for negotiating with suppliers, ensuring data-driven decisions that enhance cost efficiency while maintaining product standards.
* Ensure health of supply base by evaluating and selecting suppliers based on capability, quality, reliability, and price competitiveness.
* Interdepartmental Collaboration: Work closely with departments such as Product Engineering, Sales & Marketing, and internal teams to coordinate purchasing needs, new projects, and ensure efficient product flow, always taking into consideration compliance standards.
* Cost Optimization Strategy: Collaborate closely with our engineering team to develop strategies for optimizing product costs without compromising quality or functionality.
* Stakeholder Communication: Maintain clear and efficient communication with all stakeholders, setting expectations, providing updates, and following up to ensure alignment and progress.
* Strategic Business Trips: Travel frequently to China to strengthen relationships with our local team, fostering trust and collaboration, and negotiate directly with key suppliers, ensuring the best deals for the company.
* Continuous Improvement: Continuously evaluate and enhance purchasing processes and vendor relationships to drive operational efficiency and cost savings.
* Agile Mindset: Pursue constant improvement on purchase contracts and conditions based on an always-evolving market, aiming for increased revenue and profitability directly impacting the value created for both our company and customers.
* Market Analysis: Continuously monitor the market, conducting research to stay updated on industry trends, pricing shifts, and competitor activities. Provide actionable insights and recommendations to refine procurement strategies and improve product offerings.
Skills and Knowledge:
* Technical Expertise: General understanding of engineering principles, quality standards, commercial regulations, and foreign trade laws.
* Data Analysis: Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis and interpretation, enabling informed decision-making.
* Project Management: Proven project management abilities, with experience in managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and achieving objectives within specified timeframes.
* Communication: Exceptional communication skills for effective interaction with suppliers and internal teams, ensuring clear and efficient information exchange.
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with a strong focus on results and continuous improvement.
* Languages: Proficiency in spoken and written English.
* Proficient with Microsoft Office products - Excel, Power BI, Oracle.
* At least 5 years in a similar position.
