Summary: Warehouse Supervisor The Warehouse Supervisor will supervise and oversee the Domestic/Warehousing operation and manage the overall process involved in the handling of freight throughout the facility. This will be accomplished through extensive coordination and communication with both internal and external customers, vendors, carriers, suppliers, and agents. This position is directly responsible for managing warehouse employees, scheduling hours, job assignments, training, performance evaluations, and the implementation of procedures and training.
Supervisory Responsibilities: General supervision and guidance to others in department. Assists in training of new and/or transferred employees. Duties and Responsibilities: Monitor workloads within the department(s) and coordinate work assignments based on necessity to ensure that deadlines are being met. Establish guidelines to be followed on new/existing customers assigned to department(s) as well as the implementation of procedures to follow. Oversee Inventory and ensure that physical inventories are maintained. Oversee and implement procedures for the handling of various customer accounts and ensure that profiles are established and maintained. Ensure that all equipment is being properly maintained, appropriate records are being kept, and procedures established and followed in this area. Work with various vendors in the ordering of supplies and maintain/control cost involved in this area. Establish and monitor all processes involved in handling of freight and ways to ensure that accuracy and quality are primary focus. Oversee warehouse safety practices and ensure that OSHA standards are being followed, as well as the development of ongoing training programs that will enhance overall safety. Work with customers in developing customized programs that will assist with various outsourcing needs. Occasionally operate Crown forklifts, reach trucks and stock pickers, pick, pack, and release orders. Assist with training/development of inventory program and work with programmers and management to review needed enhancements. Able to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with customers, agents, carriers, vendors, management, and other employees. Must demonstrate tact, diplomacy, professionalism, and negotiation skills in person and over the telephone. Able to follow basic to complex instructions and/or directions requiring normal to moderate periods of concentration. Requires ability to decide on a course/sequence of action within general guidelines. Must be able to make decisions regarding customers and operational issues quickly and accurately. Must be able to prioritize, organize, and manage multiple tasks with accuracy and attention to detail and follow through. Must have strong communication skills. Proficient computer and data entry skills desired. Education and Experience: High School Diploma (or equivalent) and at least one year of industry experience. Prior management experience preferred in the logistics industry. Physical Requirements: Must be able to twist, stoop, squat, reach above shoulder level, and crouch on a frequent basis. Individuals must be able to use proper techniques to lift 40 pounds.
