We are well positioned in the marketplace, and on a trajectory to continue our geographic services expansion.We are seeking an experienced and motivated Operations Manager to oversee and optimize our construction management operations in California. This role will ensure seamless coordination of projects, financial oversight, and process improvements while fostering a collaborative environment among teams. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills to support the successful execution of construction initiatives and achieve company goals.This position will be primarily remote with occasional travel to meet business needs in California.ResponsibilitiesSupport the Vice President of Construction Management-Transportation (VP of CMT) and Principals in executing strategic business initiatives outlined in the annual Business Development Plans.Manage and ensure timely execution of financial responsibilities, including invoice processing, accounts receivable (AR), and department budgeting.Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to assist the VP, Principals, and Project Managers (PMs) in decision-making, program management, and value proposition development.Assist VP of CMT with staffing schedules, monitor utilization and PTO requests, and offer strategies to address resource needs.Identify opportunities for process improvement and coordinate procedural enhancements to optimize efficiency, quality, and productivity.Manage and monitor CMT equipment and training resources.Operational Leadership:Lead and manage day-to-day construction operations, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.Oversee scheduling, resource allocation, and project timelines to maximize efficiency and productivity.Monitor compliance with safety standards, regulations, and company policies.Develop and implement streamlined processes and procedures to improve operational performance.Manage departmental budgets, track expenses, and forecast financial needs.Oversee accounts receivable, invoicing, and financial reporting for construction projects.Collaborate with project teams to ensure projects are delivered within budget and on schedule.Provide financial analysis and reports to senior management to support decision-making.Team Management:Support and mentor staff, including Project Managers, Coordinators, and field teams.Assist in workforce planning, including staffing schedules and PTO management.Foster a positive work environment and promote a culture of collaboration and innovation.Partner with Human Resources for employee hiring, onboarding, and training.Project Support:Serve as a liaison between leadership, field teams, and corporate departments.Monitor project progress, identify potential challenges, and recommend solutions.Oversee project set-up, billing processes, and time reporting systems.Review and analyze project performance metrics, including costs, revenues, and staffing projections.Facilitate preparation of all documentation required for RFP/RFI’s, inclusive of cost estimates and SF330 forms.RequirementsMinimum Education, Licensure, and Certification Required:Degree in Business Administration, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or additional commensurate years of experience.Minimum Experience Required:3-5 years of experience in an A/E/C business management role (Caltrans or similar clientele).3 years’ experience with California wage and Prevailing Wage requirements.Proven experience as an effective communicator with a strong focus on interdepartmental collaboration.Expert Microsoft Suite Skills – particularly Excel.Other Required Skills:Must be organized and have a strong attention to detail.Extremely versatile, dedicated to efficient productivity.Enterprise level Project Accounting end-user experience (Deltek Vantagepoint or similar).
