Purpose and Objective: The Power Distribution System Engineer plays a key functional role in the execution of the customer-facing software delivery and project implementation. The position will be responsible for providing key domain expertise in designing and implementing the Landis+Gyr solution. Persons in this role will evaluate client business processes and consult with the client on the feasibility and integration of those processes utilizing the product solution; implement appropriate system configurations, features, and services for optimal system operation and performance; and validate system quality to achieve client acceptance and satisfaction.
Main Activities:
1. Act as the primary functional resource that collaborates with the client throughout the implementation of the project.
2. Provide subject matter expertise in designing and implementing strategic technologies across electric distribution systems, including new customer technologies.
3. Lead the exploration and establishment of new technical areas to address transmission and distribution system capacity and reliability needs, including utility-scale batteries, distribution sensors, advanced modeling, non-wire solutions, etc.
4. Support or lead the evaluation and planning of resilient power distribution grid projects, which include microgrids, automated switching distribution systems, etc.
5. Develop and review design documents and project design packages, which include plan drawings, electrical one-line diagrams and schematics, arrangement drawings, wiring diagrams, and other drawings and materials required to execute the project.
6. Analyze existing distribution data and recommend appropriate placement of equipment.
7. Perform engineering studies to model the electrical grid.
8. Review work submitted by external consultants and customers.
9. Exhibit excellent communication skills, including the development of presentations and written reports.
10. Provide root cause analysis and/or resolution to technical issues supporting L2, L3, Engineering, Product Management, and other resources when required.
11. Work closely with members of the Software Delivery team, Premium Support Managers, Premium Support Engineers, Project & Program Managers, and others to proactively plan and monitor project deployments and ongoing technical support as required by the contracts.
12. Ensure customer requirements are met, and best-of-class service is delivered to our customer base.
13. Represent the Company in a positive, professional manner when working with both external and internal customers.
Education and Experience:
* Bachelor's degree in a job-related discipline required.
* Utility operations experience is a plus.
* Experience in process definition and delivery to meet overall business objectives.
* Previous experience supervising a diverse technical workforce is preferred.
* Advanced English proficiency.
