We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague with a broad scope of interests that is willing and able to support our current business; we are a young, ambitious and rapid growing company, active in the trading of various commodities and Oleo chemicals across the globe. We have offices in Singapore, Indonesia, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, USA and we are part of an international group, headquartered and stock exchange listed in Singapore.GAR Brazil is looking for a Junior Trader with about 3 to 5 years’ experience in sugar trading and operations, as well as managing sugar positions. This team is responsible for origination, trade and distribution of agricultural commodities, mainly sugar. You will work in close cooperation with GAR sugar teams in Brazil, Singapore and the Netherlands. It will be your key responsibility to coordinate various reporting, financial and operational matters.Tasks and responsibilities
Create value for the company, take daily commercial decisions in line with the agreed trading game-plan.
Support and assist senior traders on origination in Brazil and Central America
Be in contact with global teams, especially in the Netherlands and Singapore, to ensure relevant information flows on commercial and operational levels
Support and report futures hedging in NY and LDN futures exchanges on a daily basis
Eventually execute and control FX hedges through NDF contracts
Control provisional price payments with suppliers and buyers. Reconcile provisional price position with the trade control and management
Prospect new clients and do cold calls to new potential buyers and suppliers
Sell sugar with a focus on an assigned region/customer portfolio, ensuring adequate margins
Create a long lasting and profitable relationship with customers and suppliers
Proactively develop new customer relationship helping the company to increase volume of sales
Manage and report the risk of your customers’ positions
Have close contact with GAI market risk team in order to keep GAR’s counterparty risk controlled
Liaise with counterparties on contract’s terms and conditions, verifying payments and coordinating claims; issue and control invoices and eventually NF’s (notas fiscais)
Manage the received invoices and NF’s from suppliers in the system and organize the filing
Prepare export memos (memorandos de exportaçao)
Update commercial cash flow controls and eventually input payments in the system, prepare payment requests
If required, assist logistics team in any export procedure/routines needed
Coordinate in obtaining necessary approvals, follow-up on signatures and hard/soft copy document for filing afterwards. Develop and carry out an efficient documentation and filing system
Prepare courier (DHL) packages and dispatch to clients worldwide, when required
Managing relationships with various service providers
Prepare management reports requested by local and international offices
Be ready to learn international trade routines - execution and logistics - to prepare controls, issue international documents, helping colleagues working in those areas and to be able to cover them during vacation periods in the future.Job requirements
Bachelor/Master Degree in Business or equivalent with specialization in International Business, Economics or Supply Chain
Relevant working experience in sugar trading is a pre or at least working experience in the commodity industry
Proven skills in value creation / margin development
Excellent English skills. Other language skills, such as French, Mandarin, Hindi are of great advantage
Self-driven and results-oriented, able to evaluate risks and come up with concrete solutions
Interest in international trade & agricultural markets
Customer-oriented with strong networking skills
Good analytical and negotiation skills
PC literate in MS Office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)Personality
