About the job
The Technology Group Polymer Specialties is responsible for process know-how, process design specifications, implementation of HSE guidelines (process safety) and process optimizations.
The key objectives of this position are:
* Assist sites to comply with HSE guidelines (process safety) and Technology Group standards:
o Assist plants to meet standard capacity.
o Evaluation of production units and storage areas versus design standards
o Participate as process engineer in Hazard Studies
* Develop and implement options for asset optimization (debottlenecking, capacity improvement, OEE improvement) and drive asset optimization improvements on sites:
o Introduce new products, new processes and process modifications on sites.
o Pursue and participate in improving current technologies and identifying new technologies.
o Contact for R&D, checking viability of R&D proposals for implementation.
o Investigate and support units that do not meet production standards.
* Participation in Capex projects:
o Lead or participate in the process design in all project phases.
o Act as technology licensor, project leader and/or lead process engineer in capex projects.
o Assist in commissioning and startup.
o Define and guide plant trials on sites.
Balance between these 3 key objectives is determined by business needs.
Primary area of responsibility is the metal alkyls production site at LaPorte, Texas, but work can include activities for other metal alkyls sites, for example Rotterdam (Netherlands), Paulinia (Brazil) and Jiaxing (China).
In your future role as Sr. Process Engineer, you will
In this role you will support the metal alkyl production sites in the Business Unit Polymer Specialties, be involved in capex projects and to improve the volume output of the plants.
This includes:
* Assist plants to meet standard capacity.
* Evaluation of production units and storage areas versus design standards
* Debottlenecking, identify options for capacity or OEE improvement.
* Benchmarking of organic peroxide processes across the sites
* Pursue and participate in improving current technologies and identifying new technologies.
* Assist sites to realize implementation of these improvements.
* Prepare process modifications and implement new products and processes in cooperation with R&D and the sites.
* Act as technology licensor and/or lead process engineer in capex projects.
* Prepare process design / basic engineering package for capex projects.
* Participate as process engineer in Hazard Studies
* Assist in commissioning and startup of capex projects (e.g. as CSU manager for smaller projects)
* Collect and drive input from process research and safety research/engineers in capex projects.
* Define and drive plant trials on sites related to capex projects.

We believe you bring
* MSc Chemical Engineering (Bachelor with additional experience acceptable)
* Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in process engineering
* Operational experience with batch liquid reactor systems
* Experience as process engineer in capex projects
* Good oral and written communication skills in English language
