Additionally, the candidate must be able to step in and provide assistance in the fundraising team during any periods of absence, ensuring continuity and effectiveness in our efforts.The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in fundraising and demonstrate a strong aptitude for relationship building, and have a proven history of securing funding from statutory sources, foundations, trusts, and major donors.
Additionally, experience in the implementation and maintaining of an individual donor program, including donor marketing strategies.ResponsibilitiesContact and visit local businesses and groups to promote ways to support MHSA.Give talks to local groups, in schools, tertiary institutions and businesses about the work.Liaise with supporters/donors/volunteers who are fundraising to ensure they have everything they need and attend events to support where appropriate including check presentations.Contact supporters who set up a Just Giving page to provide support for their fundraising.Liaise with Marketing and Communications to manage external requests for publicity for fundraising events and activities that are being undertaken on behalf of MHSA.Grow income from Community & Corporate Fundraising through phoning and visiting local businesses and groups, supporting existing supporters/donors and promoting new fundraising initiatives.Manage and grow income from collection pots and collection houses through promotion of these in the community, changing collection pots on a regular basis.Research, plan and implement new fundraising initiatives after approval.Support our fundraising groups and supporters and generate publicity for their activities.Support our corporate donors and encourage their support and participation in our events and appeals.Manage Just Giving and other online giving sites for community events, and ensure that donors and participants are thanked in a timely and appropriate manner.Co-ordinate volunteer support for community events where this is required.Support compiling and circulating a list of community fundraising events on a regular basis.Work with the procurement team to secure Gifts in Kind.Increase tax efficient giving across all donations and increase our knowledge and understanding of donors.Foster new relationships and maintain existing relationships with community donors to encourage regular/long term giving.Foster relationships with volunteers to effectively increase support and brand awareness.Fundraising & Communications StrategySupport the Fundraising Manager to deliver a Fundraising & Communications Strategy.Develop long term relationships with supporters/donors through outstanding supporter care.Ensure all community fundraising policies and procedures and legislation are adhered to.Establish good processes and measures to ensure that our activities deliver against objectives and conform to the highest standards of regulations and procedures.Invest in new ideas and innovation, continually scanning the external environment.Ensure all supporters are thanked in an appropriate and timely manner and their donations are administered in line with fundraising procedures.Handle general telephone and personal enquiries regarding donations or other fundraising issues.Respond to all donors appropriately with warmth and compassion.OtherWork alongside and in co-operation with the Fundraising Manager and other fundraising, administrative and programme staff.Work within MHSA policies and procedures contributing to the delivery of an effective fundraising and communications service that promotes our mission, vision and purpose.Be aware of and comply with all relevant MHSA policies and procedures including those relating to health and safety, fire safety, data protection, IT and standing financial instructions.Maintain personal and professional development in order to meet the changing demands of the role.Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of charity legislation and government initiatives relating to the non-profit making sector and work to the Fundraising Regulator 'Codes of Practice' and General Data Protection Regulation.The profile does not encompass all the responsibility that may vary from time to time.Qualifications and ExperienceAt least five years' experience in a similar role.Demonstrable track record of Fundraising.Successful, significant and relevant achievement in a comparable national/international organisation.Experience of utilising the strength of an organisation brand for charity/business development.Proven track record of meeting challenging income targets.Proven ability to build, manage and develop key stakeholder, client and donor relationships.Experience of developing and implementing strategic and business plans.Proven track record in fundraising that has directly resulted in increased income for an organisation.Effective dissemination of information to large and diverse groups.Essential Skills and KnowledgeStrong leadership skills.Track record of bringing innovative creative thinking and fresh ideas to an organisation and/or its services.Knowledge of the fundraising environment and of a range techniques and disciplines which will support the cost-effective generation of income.Exceptionally convincing and persuasive written and oral skills with the ability to present and convey complex ideas and issues clearly and coherently.Demonstrable ability to evaluate the type of initiatives and programmes within the scope of the post and initiate, develop and deliver new initiatives that build on their successes.Highly self-motivated and able to work autonomously, take initiative and make decisions.Commitment to MHSA core values and strategic direction.Ability to work flexible hours.Energy, enthusiasm and flair to work hard and achieve ambitious targets.Social media and AI with a proven record of ability of evaluating the evolution of methodologies and platforms on the fundraising strategy.Excellent verbal communication and public speaking skills.Working understanding of Shariah and South African Legislation that impact the methodologies of fundraising
