Job Description
We are looking for a Communications Officer to join our Regional Communications team and implement our communications strategy in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), with a regional scope to support communications around our industry verticals in the region as well digital communications.
* Develop impactful content, as well as designing and implementing innovative communication strategies tailored to diverse audiences, including private sector actors, government counterparts, and development partners, while promoting IFC's leadership and impact in the region.
* Serve as a trusted advisor on communications to IFC operations in LAC.
* Based on solid understanding of IFC's business (financial services, infrastructure, manufacturing, and sustainability sectors), develop and execute campaigns to highlight IFC's impact across priority sectors in LAC, both with external and internal stakeholders.
* Develop regional industry narratives, in coordination with industry experts and global industry communications.
* Write high-profile materials such as speeches, talking points, op-eds, and presentations, ensuring alignment with corporate priorities and key regional narratives.
* Prepare, produce, and disseminate communication products (e.g., feature stories, news releases, blog posts, speeches, presentations, briefing notes, and industry-specific content).
* Develop/supervise the development of digital content (e.g., videos, infographics, and social media campaigns) that resonates with target audiences, including private sector actors and regional stakeholders.
* Drive the development, implementation, and impact evaluation of digital strategies for social media, website updates, and other digital tools, coordinating with LAC communications team and supervising external service providers, as needed, in order to amplify IFC's messages and enhance engagement with key audiences.
Key Responsibilities:
* Coordinate with LAC operations and communications team the mapping of key stakeholders, especially active online, to be updated on a regular basis.
* Build and maintain effective professional relationships with these stakeholders (primarily: the media, civil society, business groups, influencers, and World Bank Group colleagues).
* Explore communications partnerships opportunities with a focus on key industries.
* Collaborate with the reputational risk management, the LAC communications and global industry communications teams to identify and mitigate reputational risks.
* In coordination with other teams, provide guidance on managing responses in challenging circumstances, including crisis communications and proactive stakeholder engagement.
Selection Criteria:
* Master's degree in communications, Journalism, Political Science, International Relations, Public Affairs, Marketing, Business/Finance, or related fields, with 7+ years of experience in corporate communications, public affairs, or international development communications.
* Solid background in communications, particularly in industry-specific messaging and stakeholder engagement. Experience as communications executive in the industry is a plus.
* Proven experience in digital communications and impactful content creation, including managing social media platforms and creating visually engaging multimedia content. Knowledge of relevant social media tools (Canvas, Hootsuite, etc.) seen as a plus.
* Demonstrated ability to lead and manage relationships with senior executives, industry experts, and operational teams.
* Proven ability to think strategically, analyze diverse information, and develop impactful communications strategies for targeted audiences.
* Knowledge of development challenges in Latin America and the Caribbean, including private sector dynamics and regional priorities.
* Excellent project-management skills, including event organization and campaign design, execution, and measurement.
* Fluency in English and Spanish (required). Portuguese proficiency is a plus.
* Understanding of multilateral development institutions, including the World Bank Group's policies and operations.
