From incidents and outages handling through a variety of projects executions to proactive recommendations for environments’ improvements - These are our objectives that aim at customers’ satisfaction and translates to customers’ business results.
What You Will Do:
* Troubleshoot and resolve customer issues related to DB systems availability and performance.
* Develop relationships with customers, comprehend and fulfill their needs, and maintain their satisfaction through regular communication and engagement with their environments.
* Perform technical work that requires planning and scheduling to ensure the best possible solution is delivered on time.
* React on incidents and provide solutions aiming at maintained environments’ improvements.
* Work in a fast-paced environment where we are responsible for companies’ most critical systems. Work remotely; there is no central office, and most people work from their homes. Some travel will be required for internal meetings. Access to a reliable high-speed internet connection is required.
What You Have Done:
* 3+ years of experience working with Relational Databases
* Understanding of Linux OS basics
* Proficient in shell usage (bash): commands such as less, nano, vim, grep, cd, df, top, ls, etc.
* Can use SSH to connect to remote systems with password and public/private keys
* Understanding of concepts like IO, load, CPU, RAM, and disk usage
* Familiar with automation concepts to speed up workflows
* Basic knowledge of InnoDB internals
* Basic knowledge of Performance Schema
* Ability to optimize queries
* Experience with tools from the Percona Toolkit or similar to execute tasks
* Deep understanding of replication and replication models, including GTID
* Skilled in troubleshooting problems in a MySQL environment
* Knowledgeable in backup solutions and strategies
* Familiar with high availability (HA) solutions and strategies
* Knowledge of virtually synchronous replication technologies like PXC and InnoDB Group Replication
* Non-Technical Skills:
* Ability to independently assess customer/environmental impact
* Execute approved change management and implementation plans
* Adhere to incident handling processes
* Resolve issues by following run-books
* Strong written communication skills in English
* Ability to write clear and concise technical reports
* Effective interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams and customers
* Capable of communicating complex information to both staff and customers in a straightforward manner
* Positive, helpful, and supportive attitude
* Strong desire to learn and expand knowledge of DBMSs
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
* Willingness to contribute to improving operational processes
What Will Make You Stand Out:
* Deep technical understanding of various MySQL architectures (Backups, Percona XtraDB Cluster/Galera, Group Replication, Semi-Sync, Asynchronous Replication)
* Expertise in optimizing MySQL queries
* Proficient with Percona Toolkit, particularly pt-online-schema-change, pt-table-checksum, pt-table-sync, and understanding their potential impact
* Experience working with Ansible for automation
* Hands-on experience with Group Replication
* Familiarity with PMM (Percona Monitoring and Management)
* Knowledge of Kubernetes
* Experience with cloud technologies and DBaaS (Database-as-a-Service)
* Experience with Postgres and/or MongoDB
* Familiarity with the managed service provider model
Closing:
Working hours depending on the timezone ( in UTC ). This position is for US East
APAC shift - 12:30 am - 8:30am
EMEA shift - 6:00am - 2:00am
US East shift - 11:00am - 7:00pm
US West shift - 5:30pm - 1:30am
Each team member has an on-call duty during the weekends - 12h on Saturday and 12h on Sunday once a month.
Some flexibility in availability is required for internal meetings.
