The Opportunity
We are hiring a Software Engineering Manager to join our CARE team in Portugal. You will be working on AI-powered solutions with generative AI, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), LLMs fine-tuning, and API integrations. This role focuses on innovative applications and solutions, including designing, developing, and implementing generative AI based applications, working with large language models (LLMs), and conducting research to stay updated with the latest advancements in generative AI.
Impact Areas:
* Generative AI Development:
o Design, develop, and implement generative AI based applications.
o Work with large language models (LLMs) to create innovative applications and solutions.
o Conduct research to stay updated with the latest advancements in generative AI.
* Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG):
o Develop and optimize RAG systems to enhance the performance and accuracy of AI models.
o Implement robust data retrieval mechanisms to support RAG frameworks.
o Collaborate with data engineers to ensure seamless integration of data pipelines.
o Design and develop APIs to interface with various AI models and services.
o Ensure APIs are secure, scalable, and performant.
o Ensure seamless integration of our AI applications with other software systems, enhancing interoperability and functionality.
* Collaboration and Communication:
o Work closely with functional teams including product managers, designers, and other engineers.
o Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.
o Communicate technical concepts and project progress effectively to technical stakeholders.

Requirements:
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field.
* Expertise in managing or technically leading a software engineering team.
* Knowledge of augmented generation (RAG) and related technologies.
* Strong skills in programming languages such as Python, Go, or Java.
* Experienced in working with SQL/NoSQL technologies (e.g., OpenSearch, DynamoDB, PostgreSQL) understanding common use cases and performance pitfalls.
* Experience with API development and integration.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* Able to work efficiently on high scalable and distributed projects.
* Proven experience with projects where the scope is not clearly defined.
* Faster learner, easily adapting to new technologies quickly and efficiently.
* Passionate and proven experience to build reliable minimum viable products and pilots in a short amount of time.
