Northeast Sports and Competition Coordinator
Compensation: The Sports and Competition Coordinator position is an exempt full-time position with an annual starting salary of $58,656. A bonus may be available dependent on organizational performance. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Position Summary:
Special Olympics Colorado is seeking a friendly and detail-oriented individual with experience in event management and a passion for Special Olympics to provide support to the Sports and Competition Team in the Northeast area. The position requires strong computer skills including word processing, website details and database management. This position also will require excellent customer service skills and the ability to be flexible and problem solve.
Reports to: Senior Director of Sports and Competition
Position Responsibilities:
* Serve as an integral member of the Sports & Competition team, assisting in all aspects of competition planning and management.
Event (Competition) Coordination:
* Assist in securing venues in the Northeast area as well as supporting throughout the state.
* Ensure that all competition logistics are in place, including volunteers, supplies needed, paperwork, etc.
* Serve as on-site logistics support and be prepared to coordinate and run competitions on own.
* Answer incoming calls and e-mails related to competitions.
* Create and send pre- and post- competition informational emails.
* Integrate with the community to acquire donations and build relationships.
* Work with Volunteer Manager to provide accurate volunteer needs, position descriptions and ensure that volunteer roles are filled.
* Serve as a liaison with volunteers on-site including everything from greeting to ensuring they are trained and feel well-supported.
* Provide support to the Games Organizing Committee, including through helping schedule meetings, providing information, and showing gratitude for their ongoing support.
Administrative Support:
* Timely and accurate database maintenance and entry.
* Assist with inventory, as well as check-in and check-out process of items within storage unit.
* Review calendars and website to ensure Northeast competition information is accurate.
* Other projects and duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
* Demonstrate commitment to the mission, vision and values of Special Olympics Colorado.
* Education equivalent to completion of high school.
* Ability to perform clerical duties.
* Ability to communicate effectively.
* Ability to travel throughout the state for competitions.
* Ability to project a positive image.
* Computer knowledge, especially in Microsoft.
* Sense of humor.
* Ability to be active and on your feet on event days.
* Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
* Ability to operate a computer for extended periods.

Additional Requirements:
* Applicants will undergo a background check after conditional employment offer.
* Applicants must possess a valid Colorado driver’s license, (or willingness to obtain one within a month of employment) with a driving record that allows employees to be covered by agency auto insurance and drive agency vehicles (must be at least 21 years old) with at least 2 years of driving experience.
* Applicants must also have access to a personal vehicle to travel throughout the state. Mileage reimbursement is provided.
