JOB PURPOSE: To ensure high quality, reliable and robust financial reporting for AngloGold Ashanti, in line with the various external regulatory reporting frameworks in compliance with the requirements of IFRS and US GAAP.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
* Solid experience in the area of controlling and finance, in large companies. Detailed understanding of complex commercial, accounting, and financial reporting issues (IFRS).
* Considerable experience in SAP or similar ERP system and highly proficient in the use of Excel.
* Professional knowledge of operational technical, planning and reporting systems in a mining environment.
* Relevant and up-to-date knowledge of the mining value chain and key business processes.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Focus on improving the existing Financial Close Process each period, to ensure a smoother period end close-out, with minimal or few surprises / back-end adjustments. The Financial Close Process includes monitoring and reviewing the creation and approval of notes for the record (NFTRs) on complex or unusual accounting transactions.
* Ensure that the year-end finalisation commences no later than 1 September annually and is more efficient year-on-year, as well as assist in the introduction of alternative year-end reporting timelines, e.g. hard-close processes in order to optimise year-end sign-off processes.
* Co-ordinate, support, review and sign-off of all reports and other documents of AngloGold Ashanti PLC and selected subsidiaries, including:
o Financial inputs in the Sustainability Report.
o Other Group financial documentation that is released to internal management and Excom, such as the performance data for bonus and other incentive schemes.
* SOX Maintenance:
o Ensure the SOX deficiencies identified at Group Corporate Accounting and Reporting level are addressed and, where required, that the design of SOX controls is appropriately modified.
o Develop and provide a Group oversight role to ensure that matters of non-compliance are highlighted early on in the process and addressed by the business units and that there are appropriate controls for new risks identified.
* General:
o Provide corporate finance support to the CFO, SVP: Group Finance, Group Treasury and Company Secretarial, to ensure smooth execution of all capital market transactions – Debt and Equity, when required.
o Participate in and provide leadership direction on strategic projects, including the implementation of US GAAP reporting, changes to quarterly and annual reporting processes due to the change in primary listing, compliance with reporting requirements in the UK, future requirements from sustainability accounting and reporting and the establishment of centralised or shared service functions.
o From time to time participate in Combined Assurance Reviews managed by Group Internal Audit.
o When required, manage ad-hoc projects mainly related to the roll-out of new accounting standards.
o Provide general support to the SVP: Group Finance, VP: Planning and Analysis and VP: Performance Reporting on ad-hoc finance related queries. From time to time, support the Group CFO with ad-hoc requests for assistance.
