SOCIAL WORKER SUPERVISOR III - Adult ServicesCLEVELAND COUNTYDept of Social Serv Title X130 South Post RdShelby, NC 28150Job DescriptionThe primary purpose of this position is to implement the provision of Adult Services to a team of Social Workers. These may include Adult Protective Services, Special Assistance In-Home Case Management, In-Home Aide Case Management, Guardianship, Representative Payee, Adult Day Program Monitoring, Adult Home Specialist and Adult Placement with primary responsibility of Guardianship Services. Regular office hours are from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Provides supervisor on call coverage on rotation after hours. Work may be required after 5:00 p.m.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESKnowledge of methods and principles of supervision and training related specifically to the field of social work, techniques, practices, and their application to complex casework, group work, and community problems. Considerable knowledge of family and group dynamics and a range of intervention techniques including but not limited to behavioral and socio-economic problems and their treatment. Extensive knowledge of governmental, private organizations, and resources in the community. Considerable knowledge of the laws, regulations, and policies which govern social work programs. Prior experience supervising, training, and ability to orient lower-level social workers, students, interns, or other staff. Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely and to plan and execute work effectively. General skills needed include but are not limited to: computer skills, ability to express ideas clearly and concisely (verbally/written), developing reciprocal work relationships within and without agencies, interpreting manual materials, analyses, active and effective listening, and functions efficiently within the administrative, supervisory, and line worker levels.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSSupervisory oversight of social workers in the Adult Services unit in reviewing, assigning and staffing of cases along with evaluating the provision of client service delivery.Monitoring goals and performance expectations, standards, and agency/state policy through data review and quality improvement measures.Evaluates the needs of the units including staffing, training, equipment and space to address gaps.Consults with staff from various State divisions, advocating on behalf of the clients and the units in the community.Ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as departmental policies.Collaborating with community organizations, government agencies, and stakeholders to enhance service coordination.The responsibilities and duties outlined above are intended to provide a general outline and summary of this role. Additional tasks may be assigned as needed, with or without notice, to meet the needs of the department and county.MINIMUM EXPERIENCE & EDUCATIONMaster's degree from an accredited school of social work and two years of directly related experience, or; Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of social work and three years of directly related experience, or; Master's degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of directly related experience or; Bachelor's degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution, and four years of directly related experience, or; Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of directly related experience, or Equivalent combination of education and experience.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
