Friday, February 14, 2025In this full-time, year-round position, you will perform a wide variety of tasks to ensure the protection, safety, and comfort of staff, guests, and homeowners at Panorama Mountain Resort (PMR).Reporting to the Health and Safety Supervisor, the Safety Services Lead Hand will demonstrate good leadership skills and provide mentorship for the safety services team.
They will lead by example, showing how to complete tasks in line with the standard procedure and coach other officers to achieve operational excellence.The Lead Hand is an ideal role for those interested in gaining hands-on experience with the intention of a career in law enforcement, fire protection, or emergency medical services.
Additionally, they will gain a wide range of knowledge regarding resort operations that could lead to promotion and career growth within the tourism industry.Prior education is an asset but not necessary.
Historically, successful candidates have graduated from programs such as Police Foundations, Law, Security, or Fire and Emergency Services.
Regardless, Officers will receive training through PMR in a variety of programs including:Basic Security Training (Justice Institute of BC)Advanced Security Training (Justice Institute of BC)Occupational First Aid Level 3 (or equivalent)Advanced First Aid ProtocolsIncident Command System (ICS) 100 and 200Essential Functions:Ensuring the public safety and well-being of all patrons, staff, and local residents at PMRProvide First Aid to guests and staff, including the use of an AED and spinal injury management equipmentRespond to alarms (fire, nuisance, door, etc.
)Inspect alarms & security systems and rectify deficienciesMonitor the CCTV systemDispatch and liaise with emergency services as required (police, fire, ambulance, search and rescue, utilities)Perform foot and vehicle patrols of the property, including residences, parking garages, storage areas, and public access areas to provide a deterrent to theft, vandalism, and disturbances and to identify safety concernsEnforce community noise by-lawsEnsure doors and entrances are locked and secureIntervene in disturbances and potentially violent situations in bars and restaurants and private and public areasEnforce PMR's wildlife management programRespond to and solve guest problems & assist other departments as requiredRequirements:Excellent communication and people skills; the ability to deliver positive interactions with guests and co-workers is imperative.All candidates must pass a criminal record check and provide a driver's abstract.Must be in good physical condition and be willing to conduct physical interventions.The Safety Services department provides 24-hour coverage; the ability to work shift work is a must.Possess a high degree of initiative and work well without supervision.Computer literacy; must be comfortable learning new software and using basic functions in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and Outlook.Willing to work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.Must be available to work both evening and day shifts.
