There is generally a step by step sequence of standard operational tasks which need to be followed to achieve an end result.
Essential Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical design of the electronic packaging for GE products equipment from concept to production implementation including design concept, MCAD modeling, analysis/simulations, drawings, design verification, documentation etc.
- Support Measurement and Networking legacy products mechanical design.
- Maintaining all mechanical design documentation for internal and outsourced designs.
- Work with upstream & downstream customers (e.g., Supplier, Sourcing, Manufacturing and CM).
Qualifications / Requirements
- Bachelor degree, preferably in Mechanical Engineering;
- Minimum 3-years product design experience preferable in electro-mechanical products
- Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and design of mechanical components and electronic enclosures
- Minimum 5-year experience in Solidworks/Creo design and drafting applied to industrial product development.
- Knowledge and understanding of mechanical design for endurance; material properties and finishes.
- Good knowledge of manufacturing processes such as injection molded plastic, die cast, elastomer, and sheet metal part/assembly design.
- Good understanding of thermal management in electronics, thermal modelling, and simulation (basic thermal management techniques).
Experience with ANSYS simulations tool preferable.
Experienced in developing parts which respect good DFM/DFA practices.
- Experience with industry standard and test requirement for Industrial Equipment.
- Experience in evaluation tests (IP, drop, shock and vibe, and corrosion resistance, EMI/EMC, etc).
- Experience with AutoCAD.
- Working experience within PLM system (Windchill preferable)

- Experience designing electronic equipment requiring thermal management.
- Understanding of PCB components and their function.
- Experience with material selection and metal manufacturing techniques cost-sensitive structures.
- Experience in designing machines for low manufacturing cost, high reliability, and ease of serviceability.
- Application of relevant EMC and product safety legislation and an understanding of outside body approval requirements LVD, UL, CSA etc.
- Knowledge of RoHS legislation.
- Written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to plan, set priorities and see projects through to completion.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
