This team will drive innovation through Self-Service, enabling greater access and usability; Optimization, improving performance and efficiency; and Autonomous Operations, leveraging automation to enhance scalability and reliability.
The Data Engineer position at John Deere is to drive the transformation of the company's distributed database platforms, fostering innovation through Data, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and Cloud Technologies. Delivering data platforms provide: An intuitive user experience, Invisible governance, Proactive self-healing and Automated resource optimization.

Key Responsibilities Develop & Optimize Databases - Design and maintain SQL Server, Oracle, and PostgreSQL databases, ensuring performance and scalability. Build & Automate Data Pipelines - Implement self-healing and automated resource optimization solutions for Data Lakes. AI & Cloud Integration - Enable AI-driven automation, machine learning models, and cloud-based data solutions. Cross-Functional Collaboration- Work with Manufacturing, IT, and Citizen Developers to deliver tailored data solutions. DevOps & Monitoring - Implement CI/CD pipelines, observability tools, and security best practices for fault-tolerant systems. Main Challenges and Assignments Prepare data infrastructure for AI and automation, ensuring long-term efficiency and innovation. Contribute to the development of machine learning models for database optimization and automation. Build automation processes for SQL Server and Oracle management, ensuring scalability and performance optimization. Work with Citizen Developers, Manufacturing Teams, and Global IT Products to design and optimize SQL Server and Oracle solutions. Identify and integrate new data sources, enabling future AI-driven automation. Incorporate regional data from Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina into the existing JDF Data Lake, originally developed in the US. Analyze database transactions and transform the environment into a Data Lake/Database structure to monitor changes and improve efficiency. Leverage SCOM and Hyper Conversion LUTENICS for predictive insights into server availability and processing needs. Experience & Qualifications Proficiency in Python or R, and familiarity with libraries such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Keras, or PyTorch Experience with data manipulation libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy) and databases (e.g., SQL). Knowledge of various ML algorithms and techniques including supervised and unsupervised learning, deep learning, and reinforcement learning Experience with implementation of machine learning models and algorithms tailored to specific business problems Proficiency in Data, AI, and Cloud Technologies Familiarity with DBMS technology, including SQLServer, Oracle, and PostgreSQL Proven experience leveraging DevSecOps and lean development principles such as Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery Experience designing highly scalable and fault tolerant systems with strong observability tooling Experience with Machine Learning, AI Technologies, or GenAI using large language models Strategic thinking and change management skills Proven problem-solving abilities for enterprise-scale challenges. Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science or Engineering or related fields Advanced degrees or certifications in machine learning or data science are a plus Advanced/Fluent English to report and collaborate in an international environment.
