The Role
As a Team Lead / Lead Developer, you will have the wonderful challenge to form and lead a new team of 3-4 Engineers (to start with) in LATAM.
You will be a bridge between our already-formed Studios and clients, and you will focus intensely on the team's development and growth, with a keen focus on positive and healthy culture.
We need our new colleague to have a proven track record of managing and growing small teams and client management and a strong technical background with a strong focus on quality.
Day-to-day, you will:
* Lead the development of software initiatives in partnership with the product team and stakeholders.
* Generate ideas and prototype new solutions while incorporating the latest technologies (including AI).
* Take ownership of feature development from start to finish, including hands-on development work.
* Consistently develop and deliver high-quality work with a strong focus on excellence.
* Collaborate closely with client teams to deliver complex components within a deadline-driven environment and assist in identifying optimal technical solutions.
* Ensure quality by adhering to technical best practices, providing mentorship, and offering constructive feedback.
* Contribute to Lateral expansion in LATAM. Grow and mentor the engineering team.
* Ensuring financial & process discipline (eg. time-tracking, internal processes).
* Be a brand ambassador for Lateral.
Experience, Qualifications, Technologies and Skills:
* Excellent proficiency in English (verbal and written).
* Over 8 years of experience in software development with strong expertise in Ruby on Rails (RoR).
* A good understanding of OOP concepts, API design and architecture, data structures and design patterns.
* Proficient understanding of Git.
* Passion for writing clean, maintainable and efficient code, keeping SOLID principles, current standards, and best practices in mind.
* Proven track record (4+ years) in managing, leading and mentoring development teams across product and engineering disciplines, ideally within high-growth startups.
* Demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks effectively and ensure team alignment (across product & engineering disciplines) by balancing technical feasibility with user experience and business objectives.
* Ability to work with all levels of management and technical staff to analyze complex situations while maintaining professional, efficient communication under pressure. These skills include verbal, written, interpersonal, presentation, and meeting facilitation skills.
* Proactive problem solver who is willing to step in and assist whenever necessary
* Quick to grasp the nature of the business.
* Ability to thrive and adapt in a fast-paced environment (where change is a constant!).
* Capable of resolving conflicts, identifying alternatives, and providing solutions; advanced problem-solving skills.
* It is nice to have experience working in the Social Media / Advertising tech space.
