What does a great Project Manager do?
The purpose of the Project Manager job is to ensure predictable, consistent, and successful delivery of detailed IT solutions to Fiserv’s clients through consulting and project management activities. The Project Manager will plan, coordinate, and monitor small, medium and some large sized scope and budget projects.
Project management skills, rather than technical skills, are key, but a strong technical background is often required to manage competing interests. Performance is typically measured by the capture of the consulting engagement, delivery of agreed solutions within time, budgeted hours, scope, client satisfaction and team goal attainment.
The Project Manager will partner with key business stakeholders to ensure the successful start-up and completion of a project. Projects may impact multiple business units or functional areas. The Project Manager is expected to work under light to moderate supervision with oversight provided by a manager within the Payments Services team.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for all aspects of the implementation of assigned projects and provides a single point of contact for those projects.
2. Take projects from original concept through final implementation working with external customers (normally fintech or banks).
3. Interface with all areas affected by the project, both internal and external.
4. Develop detailed work plan (usually through MS Project Plan).
5. Create and maintain a project schedule for each project by identifying and monitoring: overall project timeline, project milestones, tasks, resources, deadlines, task dependencies, allocations, timesheet and critical paths.
6. Prepare/Present weekly status report for every project assigned.
7. Conduct project meetings to keep project on track.
8. Plan, supervise and participate in activities for multiple projects.
9. Manage vendor tasks by keeping tracking of their deliverables.
10. The candidate must be able to focus on the customer (at all levels of the organization), leverage Fiserv’s project management methodology as appropriate, champion a disciplined culture, and understand the importance of culture change management.
11. The candidate should be able to balance the need for strategic vision, tactical items of the project team and overall project work balance to ensure success of the project and product delivery.
12. The candidate is expected to participate in cross-functional projects that span multiple business units across the Fiserv enterprise driving innovation, new product functionality, and overall product maturity. The candidate should have a strong background working on collaborative solutions.
13. Coordinate with other project managers and organizational entities to identify and monitor issues, impacts and dependencies.
14. Display strong understanding of the organization's business strategies and apply knowledge to all project activities.
15. Build relationships with all functional areas and manage stakeholder expectations.
Organization and time management skills:
16. Operates independently with minimal guidance by management.
17. Ability to manage numerous concurrent projects.
18. Knowledge of and demonstrated experience in project management processes worked in Information Technology or Financial industry.
19. Knowledge of the implementation project lifecycle (discovery, scope definition, development, testing, implementation, warranty).
20. Extensive experience in meeting planning, orchestration and public speaking
21. Proficient at Microsoft Office applications, mainly MS Project (which is a must)
Basic Qualifications :
22. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent Project Management work experience preferred.
23. 5+ years of professional experience in a project management and/or IT consulting role.
24. Ability to build relationships with and influence other functional areas.
25. Strong interpersonal skills, specially teamwork.
26. Exceptional negotiation skills and able to handle multi-disciplinary conflicts.
27. Ability to work in a matrix environment.
28. Experience managing cross-functional projects.
29. Detail and big picture orientation.
Preferred Skills, Experience, and Education:
30. Knowledge of Banking or Cards Processing or Payment Methods is required.
31. Knowledge of Digital Wallets and Scheme Certifications is required.
32. Bilingual (Portuguese/English) able to handle fluent conversation and writing communication are required. Spanish is a plus.
33. Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or similar is desirable, although it´s not a must.
