Subsea Flexible Riser Analysis EngineerJoin Our Team and Shape the Future of Offshore Engineering! In NOV SPS, part of the Fortune 500 company NOV, we power the industries that power the world. Our core business is engineering, manufacturing, and delivering high-quality flexible pipe systems for our clients around the world.NOV Subsea Production Systems (NOV SPS) designs and manufactures flexible pipes and specific, innovative products for the offshore oil and gas industry. At our operations in Denmark (Brondby and Kalundborg) and in Brazil (Rio de Janeiro and Açu Port), we leverage superior engineering and state-of-the-art manufacturing technology to deliver subsea equipment to global contractors and oil companies. We continuously push the boundaries of our capabilities and for this we are looking for an Engineer – Pipe System Design Engineering, to join our global team and support our growth in Brazil, following the increased demand for offshore flexible pipes at projects worldwide.Your New RoleJoining our team in the Pipe System Design department, you will play a crucial role in designing our flexible pipe systems, from modeling the dynamic offshore environment and simulating the behavior of the structures to calculating loads and evaluating the integrity of flexible pipes and subsea structures. In collaboration with other engineering disciplines, you will be modeling all the components together as a system using the finite element analysis-based software Orcaflex, designing the whole subsea configuration and calculating loads to assess the integrity and feasibility of the different components like the pipe cross-section, the end-fittings, and subsea structures. You will design the configuration of the flexible risers whether it’s in free-hanging, lazy wave, or other configurations, defining required pipe lengths and ancillary components such as bend stiffeners and buoyancy modules. You will be part of our global and international Engineering department, based in either Rio de Janeiro or São João da Barra, Açu Port, Brazil, where we work on several major flexible pipe projects at a time in a multi-disciplinary environment. You will take part in a range of tasks in the projects, where you can leverage your skills as an engineer to succeed. You will receive comprehensive support and training to master the specifics of the role, and we will assign a buddy/mentor to get you started. Your key responsibilities will include:Conducting comprehensive global analysis of flexible pipes and offshore structures under various extreme operating conditions.Performing hydrodynamic and structural simulations to assess the impact of environmental forces, such as waves, currents, and tides.Analyzing the mechanical behavior of flexible pipes, considering factors like bending, axial tension, compression, and torsion.Evaluating extreme environmental conditions like 100-year events, operational fatigue life conditions, as well as installation scenarios to ensure a safe deployment and maintenance-free operation of the pipes for 20+ years.Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineering disciplines, our sales department, project management, supply chain, planning, operations, manufacturing, etc., to ensure efficient and successful project execution.Collaborating and communicating with our customers, independent verification parties, installation contractors, and other external stakeholders.Preparing detailed technical reports and documentation to communicate analysis results and recommendations for handling, installation and operation.Ensuring compliance with industry standards (API Spec 17J and RP17B), regulations, and safety requirements.About YouFrom the moment you start your career in NOV, we will support your personal and professional development. We seek Mid-level and Senior engineers who can contribute their expertise and experience to our team. While we value diverse backgrounds, we have identified key skills and competencies that we believe will set you up for success in your new role:Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related field.Experience in structural analysis and dynamic simulation, preferably within the offshore industry.Proficiency in finite element analysis software Orcaflex or similar.Strong understanding of fluid mechanics, hydrodynamic loading, wave theory, fatigue analysis, and nonlinear behavior of materials.Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.Strong communication skills and the ability to present complex technical information clearly.Fluent in both written and spoken English on a professional level. Why Join Us?Flexible pipes are one of the most complex products in the offshore industries, and every pipe we deliver is custom engineered for the client’s specific needs and requirements, and for the specific environmental conditions whether it’s offshore Brazil, Australia, Africa, or in the North Sea. The job will provide a lifelong learning opportunity full of challenging, unique projects that are crucial to the world’s energy supply. In NOV Subsea Production Systems, we are at the forefront of offshore engineering, delivering cutting-edge solutions that power the industries that power the world. Our team of experts is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of technology and ensuring the safety and reliability of offshore structures.NOV is a large corporation with a multitude of career opportunities, offering a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package. We are committed to ensuring a good work-life balance including a standard 37-hour work week, flexibility to work partly from home, and providing overtime payment. Our main strength is our colleagues, our good social, supportive, and collaborative work environment that values innovation and continuous learning.Business travel is to a limited extent part of the job and may happen in occasional opportunities to visit customers around the globe as well as other NOV sites/offices. More frequently, you will visit our factory in Açu Port, where you can see your designs come to life, provide your engineering expertise and support, and experience the pipes coiled up on reels the size of a two-story house being picked up by our customers and sailed to their destination. Are you Interested? We hope the above has sparked your interest and that you will become a new member of our team. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to apply for the position, we are more than happy to provide any additional information or clarification you may need along the selection recruitment process.Apply Now and become a part of a company dedicated to innovation, excellence, and safety!
