Result of Service
- The consultant shall assess the condition of laptops, desktops and printers and determine the best course of action for the apparatuses to be operational and functional. Part of the assessment is to determine if an upgrade is necessary, provide a list of technical specifications for purchasing parts if necessary. Furthermore, it is required that unused laptops and desktops be formatted and be made ready to be used by the team.

- Background The main mandate of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) is to promote sustainable development of human settlements and policies conducive to adequate housing for all. Within this framework, UN-Habitat supports central and state governments, as well as local authorities and other partners for the implementation of the Habitat Agenda, the 2030 Agenda with the Sustainable Development Goals and the New Urban Agenda. UN-Habitat helps the urban poor by transforming cities into safer, more inclusive, compact, integrated, resilient and connected places with better opportunities where everyone can live with dignity. It works with organizations at every level, including all spheres of government, civil society, and the private sector to help build, manage, plan and finance sustainable urban development. The Regional Office for Latin American and the Caribbean - ROLAC - is based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Agency puts emphasis in developing and managing activities in the host country. Indeed, for the past years, UN-Habitat has expanded its portfolio in Brazil by working with the three tiers of government in order to support the formulation and implementation of more effective, sustainable, participative, and socially fairer urban economic, social, and environmental policies. In order to maintain the office functional and operational and to meet expectations on project implementation, the Brasil and Southern Cone office requires an IT Consultant to evaluate and maintain the office’s technological assets. Report to UN-Habitat Manager The IT Consultant reports to the National Officer for Brazil, who will evaluate him/her. Outputs/Work Assignment The IT Consultant shall support the office in matters pertaining to technology. The Consultant shall be paid with a monthly allowance, upon presentation and approval by the National Officer for Brazil of a monthly activities' report. Responsibilities The key functions of the IT Consultant are: Assess the conditions of the office’s technological assets; Determine course of action for corrective maintenance; Provide management with a list of technical specifications for upgrade parts, if necessary; If needed, install the upgrade parts in the apparatuses; Maintenance and cleaning of both printers; Guarantee that the printers are operational in the office’s network; Format laptops and desktops if needed; Set up new profiles on the computers; Contact specialized maintenance, if necessary; Perform ad hoc activities and other duties which may be requested by the supervisor.
