As a Principal Software Maintenance Engineer, you will provide an important level of technical assistance to ensure that our highly-valued customers get the most out of our products.
This position extends well beyond product support as you will take on the role of trusted partner to our enterprise customers by offering developer-to-developer assistance for the Red Hat middleware suite.You will be providing technical support for the Red Hat middleware systems, including troubleshooting customer issues and implementing configurations across integrated applications.
You will work closely with junior/senior engineers and developers to provide highly technical solutions to support requests, debug and improve code for products like Red Hat JBoss Web Server.
Additionally, you will write patches, provide updates, and contribute ideas through participation in an open and collaborative team environment.This role may come into contact with confidential or sensitive customer information requiring special treatment in accordance with Red Hat policies and applicable privacy laws.What you will do:Own the resolution of customer issues from initial contact to complete customer satisfactionProvide high-level, detailed technical assistance to ensure that our customers get the most out of our Red Hat JBoss Middleware offeringsUse efficient problem-solving techniques, debugging source code and resolve complex, critical, and sensitive support issuesLearn new technologies and provide blogs/whitepapers, and kbase articles pushing technical knowledge out to our customers and the communityProvide a high, detailed level of technical assistance to ensure that our customers get the most out of our JBoss productsEngage and collaborate with open source developers around the worldOffer developer-to-developer assistance for the JBoss Enterprise Middleware SuiteWork alongside in-house developers, write new code, fix & improve code, provide highly technical solutions and contribute to the JBoss & open source software communitiesDevelop patches and feature requests to provide upstream to the community and downstream to customersAdvise customers on JEE architectural design decisionsWork with other open source projects to help customers integrateWhat you will bring:6+ years of professional J2EE/JEE platform experienceDeep experience with one or several JEE/App Server technologies such as JMS, Web Services, Servlets, JSP, JDBC, Hibernate, Tomcat or DatasourcesGood knowledge of the J2EE/JEE platformMust have hands-on experience with application server technologies - JBoss/WebSphere/WebLogicA solid understanding of Java Programming API's & popular Java frameworks is preferredExperience with databases and SQLMust have strong troubleshooting/debugging skills and a passion for problem solving and investigationAn ability and willingness to learn new open source middleware technologiesVery clear and effective English communications skillsAbility to communicate courteously and effectively with customers, third party vendors and Red Hat associatesBS/BA degree in engineering or computer science is preferred; equivalent experience within the enterprise IT sector will also be consideredNice to have:Knowledge of SOA/ESB is a plusKnowledge of JMS/Messaging requiredKnowledge of ActiveMQ/HornetQ a plusKnowledge of security (e.g.
