BASF Raw Material Buyer_Tail-spend And Distribution
BASF is seeking a professional like you, with strong interpersonal skills, who loves to negotiate and identify innovative ways to add value for the company. As part of our global procurement organization, you will support the South American region in procuring chemical raw materials via both producers and a robust distribution network. You will routinely engage with the associated business units, Procurement Category Managers, and suppliers to align supplier capabilities with BASF strategic priorities. You will explore creative solutions to optimize the reliable supply of raw materials to our production facilities throughout South America.
**As a Buyer for the Tail-spend & Distribution (TAD) team you create chemistry by**
- Supporting the development and implementation of TAD procurement strategies for the South American region.
- Managing multiple local and regional categories.
- In alignment with category teams and business personnel, leading the sourcing process (RFI, RFQ, RFP, etc.) for the assigned raw material portfolio.
- Providing relationship management for key suppliers. You will monitor performance metrics, resolve claims and/or disputes, market intelligence, and other contributing factors affecting supply availability and pricing of products procured.
- Supporting or leading various projects and initiatives.
- Successfully engaging across the business. You will collaborate with all areas of BASF (Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, Engineering, Accounting, EHS, Tax, etc.) and with global colleagues representing other regional TAD teams and support personnel.
- Running large digital tenders and embracing a data-driven approach to drive results.
**Your formula for success**
- Proven ability to communicate effectively and persuasively with all levels of the organization and external suppliers.
- Proficiency in Portuguese and English is necessary.
- Proficiency in Excel is necessary. Experience in SAP, COUPA and/or electronic bidding platforms is a plus.
- Results driven.
- Proven analytical skills necessary.
- Negotiation experience is a plus. Desire to negotiate is necessary.
- Educational and/or professional background in Procurement, Supply Chain, Engineering/Operations, Sales and/or related field
