Student Research Assistant - FIPR Institute
JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
This position is located at Florida Industrial & Phosphate Research Institute located at 1855 W. Main Street, Bartow, FL 33830.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Sample preparation - crushing, pulverizing and measuring for chemical analysis
- Operation of analytical tools such as pH meter and ion probes
- Acid digestion of solid and liquid samples for chemical analysis
- Data recording
- Glassware cleaning for chemical analysis and general lab cleaning.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to complete detailed work in a timely fashion.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population.
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant course content.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Current students: Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.25 and successfully completed 9 credits or more in the most recent semester with a GPA of at least 2.0.
- Must be enrolled at least half-time.
- Must be currently enrolled or attending classes at Florida Polytechnic University.
REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR OTHER SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS OF LAW:
- This position requires a criminal background check.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: A student worker is limited to a maximum of 20 work hours per week while classes are in session.
During semester breaks and summer term, a student worker is limited to a maximum of 32 work hours per week on an as-needed basis.
