Position Summary
Work on a team to prepare for and facilitate special events at the Nordic Center. Examples of Nordic events include races, tours, community events, and evening experiences. Prepare the event venue to the required event standards, ensuring successful event execution and guest safety. During the event, this position will require exceptional customer service and guest interaction and may even require special assignments such as tour guide, instructor, timer, trails maintenance, and crowd control, as well as active Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities
Assist with event or race set-up duties.
Work closely with Nordic Manager, Race Director, Nordic Patrollers, and Events Staff to operate effectively as a team.
Perform duties as needed and assigned during events, including crowd control, ticket checking, course monitor, aid station management, tour guide, activity instructor, etc.
Serve as an ambassador of the Nordic Center while on duty, by greeting guests, providing helpful information and directions, and having friendly conversation.
Work outdoors in winter and spring mountain conditions for prolonged periods of time.
Use snowmobile drag and track setting equipment to groom and compact snow for consistent snow surface product during events and as required for daily Nordic ski operations.
Use snowshoes to prep snowshoe trails for events as needed.
Follow all safety protocol.
Work early morning and evening shifts as required for specific events.
Secondary Function
Perform pass enforcement duties at the gate, at all trail access points, and on the trails.
Assist the indoor lodge staff with ticket, rental, and retail sales during busy times or to provide relief breaks.
Job Scope
Planning and execution of successful Nordic Center events, in conjunction with Nordic staff, Events staff, and outside vendors. Duties include event set-up, management, and clean-up, all while providing friendly customer service and positive guest experiences.
Interpersonal Contacts
Nordic Staff, Events Staff, Nordic Pro and NSP Patrollers, Race Organizations and associated volunteers, Grooming Staff.
Specific Job Skills
License/Certifications: Current and Valid Driver's License.
Technical: Experience with snowmobiles, knowledge and proficiency of Nordic skiing.
Physical Capabilities: Ability to adapt to changing environment at any given moment. Working for extended periods in harsh winter weather. Frequent shoveling, lifting, pushing, and pulling. Snowshoeing through deep and heavy snow conditions.
Additional: Experience in front line guest service/ effective communication skills.
Education/Related Experience
Minimum education required: Read and Write Clearly
Minimum time in related position: Experience preferred but not required.
Current Hiring Range: $16.00/hr
