Purpose of the role
The maintenance planner will be responsible for all maintenance planning related activities on site as well as stock control and miscellaneous tasks within job spec ability.
This position is within the Saldanha Laboratory and falls within the Professional Services and SPA business lines.
Job scope
Maintenance Planning- Implement a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) within 6 months of purchase of the CMMS program- Schedule daily, weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance on the CMMS- Ensure that the Technicians record the actual daily, weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance jobs executed on the CMMS- Submit a monthly report to the head of the Maintenance Department and the Laboratory Manager of:
Actual maintenance done versus the planned maintenance Reasons for any non-executed scheduled maintenance Breakdowns (with causes of breakdowns)- Schedule services with service providers- Ensure that Service Level Agreements (SLA's) are in place for identified pieces of equipment in the Laboratory (As per the contractual obligations with Kumba Iron Ore)
Stock Control- Coordinating the availability of all spares to ensure availability to maintenance and quality teams- Communicate with relevant stakeholders regarding procurement of spares and services- Obtain and evaluate quotes, place requisitions, and communicate expected delivery dates- Ensure that goods are received in good order and that delivery notes are completed, signed, and filed- Ensures a proper documentation system with regards to the inventory of spares, consumables, and assets- Performs monthly stock counts, verify variances and report findings to the Laboratory Manager and Head Office
What you bring- Grade 12 with a tertiary or post matric qualification (relevant diploma or trade)- 3 Years' experience in planning and inventory control- Experience in a multifunctional laboratory would be advantageous- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance- Knowledge of the production process, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective use of equipment
