Maintenance & Automation Supervisor - 3rd Shift
The Automation Supervisor has management responsibility for providing leadership to maintenance in all areas of the plant on the same shift while building and sustaining an environment of teaming and engagement across all shifts. The incumbent is responsible for providing maintenance associates with clear direction and boundaries on safety, quality, and operations needs while building ownership and commitment to the Just Born Lean Manufacturing System (STS). The supervisor possesses leadership skills, understands human behavior, clearly communicates, and develops others.
Principal Duties/Responsibilities:
1. With Planner, schedule and conduct preventative maintenance through the utilization of the computerized maintenance management system.
2. Troubleshoot Production Line problems, including making recommendations and debugging new installations to meet commercial production requirements.
3. Supervise and assign work to shift Maintenance personnel and coordinate maintenance priorities across all three shifts by communicating with other maintenance supervisors.
4. Formulate and manage a plan for performing annual plant/production shutdown maintenance by communicating with other Maintenance Supervisors and Manager, Maintenance & Facilities.
5. Research new technology applications to improve mechanical and electrical operations related to the plant.
6. Develop entire programs for PLC installations and program changes for existing installations to allow ease of product change and improve production efficiencies and quality. Electrical panel design and fabrication.
7. Compile material list and supervise all project jobs using both internal labor and external contractors on new installations in the areas of electronics, PLCs, etc., as well as in maintaining existing buildings and equipment, ensuring competitive pricing and cost-saving measures are utilized.
8. Conduct research, and provide related materials, including major and primary design control concepts for Engineering projects. Review, modify and approve new production processes and changes to existing production equipment initiated by the Engineering Department.
9. Implement equipment modifications required to meet Marketing and Sales demands for new products, including new equipment installation.
10. Promote the vision and philosophy of Just Born. Encourage associate self-development activities and provide opportunities and accommodations for staff to enhance their skills. Set the example by attending training sessions to develop management and technical skills. Support Just Born activities both internally and within the community in a manner that is consistent with Just Born’s corporate values and culture. Manage budget responsibilities to ensure the financial integrity of Just Born.
Qualifications:
1. Education: Formal training program after high school (vocational, business, or technical school), or an associate’s degree.
2. Experience: More than five years in at least five of the following areas: Machining, Electrical Controls, Pipefitting, Welding, Boiler Operation, Packaging Machines, Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Process Systems.
3. Leadership & Management: Possesses or will develop the following skills and attributes: management skills; leadership qualities; planning & execution; training, development & coaching; effective communication; teamwork; and customer focus.
4. Knowledge Level: Must have a thorough knowledge of instrumentation and process control systems, and knowledge of various software packages including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
