What role you will play in our teamThe Tax Advisor's primary role is to provide accurate and clear tax advice to the Tax Manager, to other colleagues in the Tax Team, and to several internal clients. The Tax Advisor will also represent ExxonMobil Tax Team externally (e.g. industry boards), engage with co-venturers, suppliers, and authorities, and coordinate outside counsel in both administrative and judicial litigation cases.
Location: Rio de Janeiro (Rio Sul Tower).
What you will doIn the role to deliver tax advice, the Tax Advisor should employ (but not limited to) the following responsibilities:
Conduct research of simple to complex tax topics
Provide tax guidance to other business and support functions
Prepare tax memos
Coordinate external law firms and consulting firms, helping to translate external advice into actionable recommendations
Follow-up changes in law that could potentially affect Company’s operations
Represent Tax Department both internally (e.g. other functions and/or affiliates of EM) and externally (Co-Venturers, Tax Authorities, Regulator, Suppliers)
Coordinate inspections and litigation cases, both directly and in coordination with outside counsels
Conduct trainings and prepare informative materials
About youSkills and Qualifications:
Solid knowledge of Direct Taxes, including Transfer Pricing, and Upstream specific topics (Law #13,586)
Solid knowledge of indirect taxes applicable to Upstream
Deep knowledge of Repetro and other Special Tax and Customs Regimes
Good knowledge of Tax Reform Discussions (main threats and opportunities to Upstream)
Knowledge of basic regulatory framework: Concession and Production Sharing Regimes
Knowledge of basic accounting rules and principles / tax accounting
High proficiency in verbal and written communication, both in Portuguese and in English
Team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills
Analytical skills and critical thinking
Degree in Law, Accounting, or Economics is required
Preferred Qualifications/Experience:
5+ years of experience in Upstream Tax
Knowledge of Government Takes and ANP’s regulations
Knowledge of Unitization
Experience in M&A
Knowledge of Corporate Law
