As an officer of the Corporation, leader of the School’s Business Office, and member of the senior leadership team, Moravian Academy’s CFOO works collaboratively with the Board of Trustees, faculty and staff to develop and implement key financial initiatives in support of the mission of the School. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with strong business acumen and a deep understanding of the complex array of factors that can affect an institution’s financial strength and long-term sustainability. The CFOO serves as a trusted advisor to the Head of School, providing in depth analysis and strategic recommendations regarding the finance and operations of the school to ensure continued long term sustainability for an institution that is nearing its 300th anniversary.The CFOO is responsible for managing and overseeing the School’s financial management practices and short and long-term financial planning and investment strategies with a high degree of efficiency, effectiveness, integrity, and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. The CFOO oversees the Business Office staff, and Director of Facilities and Plant Operations. In addition, the CFOO oversees the outsourced contracts for security and food service.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree and ten years of business or school finance experience. A CPA or Master’s Degree in accounting, business, finance or related field preferred.Strong financial acumen, gifted in both annual budgeting and financial forecasting and planning.A compassionate leader with high emotional intelligence.Ability to manage the Academy’s financial and business policies and procedures and the Business Office staff that oversee Accounts Receivable/Student Billing, Accounts Payable, and Transportation.Capacity to develop and manage the process for setting annual fiscal budgets, working to build financial literacy among all school leaders.Provides transparent financial reporting and planning that builds trust among administrators, faculty and staff, trustees and all constituents.Oversees all annual financial and 403b plan audits and filings of tax returns. Prepares for and coordinates with the external audit teams and the Audit Committee for the annual audit of the Academy’s financial accounts and 403(b) retirement plan; prepares fiscal year end financial statements, notes to the financial statements and supplementary information.Coordinates and reviews with external auditor and Audit Committee the Academy’s IRS form 990 filing.Negotiates and maintains the Academy’s employee health insurance and benefit plans.Maintains all proper management and file preparation of IRS form 5500 for the Academy’s 403(b) retirement, Flexible Spending Account, Group Health Insurance, Group Life Insurance benefit plans.Maintains and administers the Academy’s insurance portfolio and risk assessment practices and procedures.Supervises and supports the Director of Plant Operations, oversees the work of the members of the Business Office, and manages the Academy’s service contracts.Excellent leadership skills with the ability to mentor staff and delegate responsibilities.Ability to balance and prioritize the needs of the school.A leader and team builder who brings joy, kindness, maturity, and flexibility to the school environment, calling individuals into the work and supporting them in their development, while also working well under pressure and being assertive with direct reports when needed.Superb interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills as well as a proven ability to work with a diversity of colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.High integrity, commitment to confidentiality, and the ability to handle sensitive information with a high degree of discretion and judgment.Ability to supervise and manage multiple functions and activities.Talent for identifying, selecting, and retaining outstanding administrators, professionals and staff as well as supervising and developing them and encouraging their professional growth.Personally committed to diversity, inclusion, and belonging, and holding individuals accountable for discriminatory behaviors or actions.Willingness to lead in alignment with the mission, values, and history of the school.Collaborates well with colleagues of diverse backgrounds.A very high level of energy, creativity, and flexibility.Enthusiasm for personal and professional growth.
