Senior Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Auditor role reports directly to the Head of GE license division and is responsible for leading the development and execution of a rigorous EHS auditing program for the decorative lighting suppliers located in China and Southeast Asia, driving proactive improvement with factories, overseeing audits, mentoring junior auditors, partnering with third-party auditors, and ensuring adherence to our corporate EHS and human rights standards across all supplier operations. Frequent travel (up to 70%) in China and Southeast Asia to visit supplier factories is required.
What you’ll be doing:
Supplier Audits & Compliance Verification
* Conduct comprehensive EHS and human rights audits at supplier facilities, evaluating compliance with company standards, environmental impact, workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and human rights management.
* Investigate documentation, processes, and practices to verify the accuracy of supplier-reported data (e.g., working conditions, chemical safety, emergency protocols).
* Develop and implement audit checklists tailored to decorative lighting manufacturing.
* Partner with outside auditors (third-party, customers’ auditors) to understand requirements and build them into the auditing process.
* Generate audit finding reports and conduct analysis of findings.
* Review action plans from suppliers for finding closure and ensure all findings are closed per requirements.
* Collaborate with factories to develop and implement corrective actions, ensuring timely remediation of identified issues.
* Uncover patterns in audit findings and prioritize high-risk areas.
* Work with customers on their EHS audit programs and requirements, ensuring all suppliers meet customer supplier EHS program expectations.
* Manage, monitor, and report risky supplier EHS issues to maintain the program at low risk.
Stakeholder Engagement & Training:
* Communicate with customers on EHS program expectations and policy updates.
* Lead supplier EHS training programs to improve supplier EHS management capabilities.
* Liaise with suppliers, government agencies, and internal stakeholders to align EHS practices with local regulations and global standards.
Leadership & Team Development:
* Guide direct reports and functional team members by identifying opportunities for growth, leveraging team strengths, and developing members toward organizational effectiveness.
* Train and mentor junior auditors on audit methodologies, fraud detection, and EHS standards (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
* Lead cross-functional teams to address systemic compliance issues and refine auditing protocols.
Performs other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
What we’re looking for:
* Minimum of 7 years of experience in EHS auditing with 3+ years in consumer products or a related field.
* Experience leading audits in China, including familiarity with regional EHS laws (e.g., China’s Work Safety Law).
* Advanced investigative techniques to uncover discrepancies in supplier documentation.
* Proven leadership skills with experience managing other EHS auditors.
* Fluency in Mandarin and proficiency in English (written/spoken).
* Strong communication and proven relationship-building skills to work effectively with factory management, outside auditors, and internal teams.
Nice to have:
* Certification in relevant EHS auditing programs (ISO Lead Auditor certification).
* EHS education background.
* Experience working with international retailers or brands on supply chain compliance.
* Experience with GE SRG or similar expectations.
* Familiarity with BSCI audit programs.
* Fluency in English and Mandarin.
* At least 2 years of experience as an EHS auditor in a well-known company.
Location: The Senior Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Auditor position is a remote working position for Balsam International Unlimited Company - Philippine ROHQ in Manila. Team members in the Philippines are located within Metro Manila, Bataan, Batangas, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Pampanga, Rizal, and Tarlac areas only.
Our must-haves:
* Must attend occasional in-person meetings.
* Must have a fast, reliable DSL, Fiber, or Broadband connection (not mobile or broadband stick) as the primary internet connection with a minimum actual speed of 50MBPS.
