**
**She/He will be responsible for**:
The primary function of this role is to (i) coordinate the routine in litigation involving the Eaton entities in South and Central America, coordinating outside counsel, supporting the businesses in inspections, identifying trends for preventive work with other functions, assisting in the definition of strategies for reduction of labor contingency of the companies and (ii) supporting in all legal matters involving environment, health and safety.
**Responsibilities**:
The main functions of the role are: 1) to coordinate the routine of litigation involving the Eaton entities in South and Central America, being responsible for (a) working with outside counsel for company's defense, (b) Jointly with outside counsel, work on defense strategy for each case mainly in labor, tax, civil, consummer and environmental areas, and also in Collective Claims and Civil actions; (c) coordinate identification and gathering of facts and documents for defense, working with HR, EHS, SCM, Sales, Operations etc for this purpose; (d) Following all cases and defining appeal strategies with outside counsel, (e) reporting on litigation status to each business and Region and providing statistics on the cases, trends and potential risks and exposures; (f) Identifying lessons learned (g) Assisting in the design and implementing yearly settlement strategy, in accordance with the company's financial goals; (h) supporting the business in decisions regarding reduction in force and avoid liabilities for the company; (i) supporting HR, EHS and finance areas in the management of pre-litigation or post-litigation situations involving the companies of the group in the region; (j) supporting the plant and employees on criminal matterts; and (k) other activities inherent to the function, such as making presentations, conducting training sessions, etc.
; supporting company's and department goals, including those associated with reduction of legal fees.
2) support the businesses in EHS legal matters, including the management of EHS-related litigation, potential exposures and risks and prevention strategies, involving: a) review and support on domestic and international regulatory matters related to enviornment, health and safety and the reduciton of corporate liability in general; b) Prepare legal opinions and recommendations for the business, c) Coordinate interactions with government agencies, of Municipal, State or Federal level, including Environmental Ministry, d) support the business in the implementation of new processes related to health and safety in the plants e) conduct training on EHS legal matters; f) identification of product stewardship and take back rules practices and support the plants as necessary in regularization of such processes according to applicable law; g) assist in the identification of legal risks and guidance and recommendation of measures to ensure the proper processes are in place; h) counseling to the plants leadership and support areas with respect to Legal EHS matters; i) support mergers and acquisitions and corporate restructuring involving the Eaton entities, j) use of the MESH tool and support to the plants to bring into compliance possible findings resulting from internal audits, k) promote the EHS strategic initiatives in the region and l) Close interaction with global EHS Legal team.

**Qualifications**:
**Experience required for the position**:
Law Degree (Bachelor)
2-5 years of experience
Civil and labor law, Procedural law, Environmental law and Fluent English
