Safety & Compliance:Ensure that all operational procedures and installation routines comply with the applicable national legislation governing the site, as well as adhere to ASME international engineering standards. These measures are essential to achieving the goal of Zero Accidents.
CAPEX Management:Responsible for managing thermal and electrical generation, alongside water management, with an emphasis on strategic CAPEX planning, OPEX optimization, and the implementation of innovative solutions. Convert utilities engineering data into actionable financial results and design solutions that utilize investment or operational standards to enhance efficiency and address bottlenecks.
Collaborate with Operations, Commercial Directors, and LATAM C-level executives to review and refine the Utilities operations strategy. This will be done through effective management of the Utilities project portfolio, ensuring alignment with the strategic objectives of the upcoming five-year plan.
Sustainability Goals (Strive35):Executed strategies to meet sustainability targets, focusing on CO2 reduction, energy and water consumption, and the maximization of utility projects. Monitored and analyzed GHG emissions levels at sites in Scope 1 and 2 across Latin America, identifying opportunities to replace fossil fuels with renewable alternatives at manufacturing sites.
Developed and ensured adherence to a comprehensive 5-year plan for renewable energy investments, ensuring the achievement of sustainability targets. Collaborated with C-level executives and key stakeholders to influence and drive end-to-end initiatives, providing continuous follow-up and support to ensure successful implementation throughout the current year.
Technical Influence:Day-to-day tasks include regular meetings with operations teams, suppliers, and specialists to ensure seamless execution of strategies and project deliverables. Additionally, conduct discussions with key stakeholders and suppliers to align on project goals and optimize performance.
Utilities Cost Management:Ensured effective cost control, asset reliability, and the implementation of technical strategies across 96 facilities. Regularly reviewed and discussed the operational cost reports of the Utilities department with controllers and finance teams to ensure alignment and accuracy.
Assets Reliability:Actively participated in Root Cause Failure Analysis for significant reliability impacts, identifying key areas for improvement. Ensured that finance and labor resources were strategically allocated to focus on the critical operational impacts within the Utilities departments, driving both efficiency and cost-effectiveness.People Development:Led the development of a high-performing team focused on resource efficiency and operational excellence. Ensured the provision of training to the utilities departments to enhance skill sets and performance. Identified the primary specialist and facilitator within the LATAM Utilities departments to assist sites with chronic issues, ensuring prompt and effective solutions.
Took proactive steps to address key knowledge gaps within the LATAM teams through targeted people development initiatives. Developed and implemented a comprehensive plan for the pipeline and succession of critical utility positions in LATAM, such as managers and specialists, to ensure continuity and growth within the organization.
