Shell has significant ambitions in power and its commitment to renewable energy remains firm, as demonstrated recently through the updated NCF/net zero announcements.
The ambition is for the integrated power business to be a material business across focus markets, including Brazil.
Shell's Integrated Power Strategy for Brazil is to continue expanding its growing power trading business as well as building-up its gas-to-power and renewable generation portfolios.
To date, Shell has self-developed an extensive greenfield solar portfolio which is currently ready for marketing.
Shell must secure long-term revenue agreements in order to commission the renewable assets in its portfolio.
The Permitting and Environmental Manager will be accountable for all permitting and environmental related activities in the Renewable Generation team in Brazil.
She/he will set strategies, manage priorities, and control budget to ensure that the team is delivering on its target, withing the highest industry standards.
Accountabilities:
- Design and manage the department to deliver the Renewable Generation Business Unit strategy, including but not limited to team, budget, delivery millstones, resource allocation, etc.
- Develop and continue improvement of department processes, control systems, Key Performance Indicators, etc.
- Identification, mitigation plan, execution, and management of permitting and environmental risks.
- Plan and approve with necessary stakeholders the HSSE strategy to projects construction and operation including team, budget, responsibility matrix, number of contractors, etc.
- Coordinate internal stakeholders (HSSE specialists, Social Performance Specialists, engineers, etc.)
to advance permitting and preparation for construction/operation.
- Manage and coordinate external stakeholders to obtain all necessary approvals.
- Define permitting strategies for green and brown field projects
- Perform Due Diligence on M&A processes.
**What we need from you**
- Must have legal authorization to work in the Brazil on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- At least 5 years of demonstrated experience in environmental permitting of infrastructure projects
- Experience in managing a team and high number of contractors
- Experience on the construction phase of projects is desirable
- Kindly submit your resume in both Portuguese and English
- Strong communication skills, being able to present their strategy within technical and non-technical audience.
- Culturally sensitive and ability to build strong relationships with Shell, partners and stakeholders.
- Ability to create trust and work well in cross-functional and multi-disciplinary teams.

- Willingness to travel at least 30% of the time and being able work efficiently and productively in remote locations.
- Resilient in supporting Shell to develop the first integrated renewable business in Brazil.
- Fluent in English and Portuguese.
