Job Description And Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of the Credit Settlement Risk Director is to protect the Visa from settlement losses by ensuring that settlement risk issues are appropriately identified and mitigated. The Senior Credit Risk Manager will have the opportunity to participate in the broader scope of credit risk management by analyzing and monitoring existing Visa clients (mainly Financial Institutions and increasing number of Corporates) and recommending credit rating assignments for new clients. In addition, the position will work closely with various key internal and external stakeholders that participate in the Visa payment system.
The Sao Paulo based position will report directly to the VP, LAC Head of Credit Settlement Risk. As part of an extended Global Team, the Credit Settlement Risk Director will also be involved in managing and implementation of the Global Credit Settlement Risk Policy.
Essential Functions
1. Perform annual and interim (when available) credit analysis on existing clients and review new license applications to ensure CSR requirements are met to properly protect Visa from financial losses.
2. Manage contracts related to the Trust Structures (E.g., Fiduciary, Escrow Account, FIDC and Processor agreements).
3. Actively engage and work closely with both internal and external Senior Management to develop strategies that support industry business growth while addressing risk concerns.
4. Respond to ad hoc queries and analytics requirements to support the complex Brazilian regulatory framework.
5. Monitor closely client settlement exposures and portfolio performance (specifically in deferred settlement markets) while addressing collateral shortfalls promptly,
6. Partner with business and functional teams to engage effectively with government stakeholders, to foster sound conditions to operate, and maintain compliance with Credit Settlement Risk requirements to ensure positive outcomes with regulator in full alignment with local and Regional leaders.
7. Diligently monitor client exposures while working with collateral administration to action collateral shortfalls
8. Anticipate client defaults (as far as possible) and manage client defaults in such a manner as to minimize risk exposure to Visa by implementing appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
9. Ensure that Credit Settlement Risk issues are adequately identified and mitigated for all Visa products.
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
o 10 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD
Preferred Qualifications
o 12-15 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD.
o Able to demonstrate understanding in credit analysis and ability to develop processes and controls to provide management assurance of risk mitigating controls.
o Ability to clearly articulate results after analyzing large scales of data to senior management as the basis for making key credit decisions.
o Be analytical, organized, accurate and detail-oriented with fact-based discipline.
o Fluent, both written and verbal, Portuguese, and English
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present clear and concise recommendations to senior management, clients, industry stakeholders and regulators.
o Able to work independently and as part of the team and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a changing environment with a high degree of accuracy and detail.
o Ability and willingness to take initiative on new projects and work well in a team environment.
