Factory Automation Engineer

Our client is seeking a Factory Automation Engineer to join their team near Ceres, Western Cape. This role offers an exciting opportunity to design, program and improve automated machine processes within a leading manufacturing company. The successful candidate will report directly to the Plant Manager and work closely with Production Managers to ensure an efficient and cost-effective operation. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on improving processes, increasing quality and flexibility in the manufacturing process.
What you'll do:
* Design automation systems and machine layouts in terms of OHS & ergonomics regulations.
* Manage CAPEX projects from initiation to handover.
* Read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
* Program and troubleshoot PLC/HMI/SCADA systems.
* Identify manufacturing process bottlenecks and drive solution projects.
* Keep up-to-date with different divisions, expertise and standards within automation.
* Understand electrical power systems (transformers, inverters, UPS’s) and multiple energy sources (generators, solar, grid power supply).
* Apply principles of food manufacturing machines design.
What you bring:
* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Automation or Process Control.
* Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Factory Automation or similar role.
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point).
* Understanding of maintenance principles.
* Experience with motor sizing, specification & selection.
* Ability to generate single line diagrams and circuit diagrams.
* Understanding of electrical installation regulations & electrical machinery regulations (OHS Act).
* Experience with PLC/HMI/SCADA Systems CAD Software.
* HACCP Experience.
