The Plant Manager will be responsible for overseeing operation and ensure that the plant is running as safely and efficiently, achieving the expected quality standards, with processes based on the pillars of sustainability. This supervision includes ensuring local programs comply with company policies, government regulations, and industry best practices. The Operation Manager will provide support, advice and direction as needed for all facilities under their responsibility. It will carry out regional and global interfaces to ensure the necessary alignments and reports related to plant operation performance. Additionally, this position will be the technical responsible for the plant and must also commit to service that meets and exceeds the expectations and needs of our employees, customers and main stakeholders.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Be the lead in Personal for the Plant teams under their responsibility.
* Lead and manage plant team including Production, EHS, Continuous improvement, Facilities and Maintenance, Projects team under their responsibility.
* Engage proactively with the local, regional and global team to resolve plant roadblocks.
* Support the Tate & Lyle culture where Environment, Health, Safety and Quality (EHSQ) are the overriding values in all activities and is accountable for working safely and complying with all policies, procedures, and regulations applicable for the plant.
* Ensuring that appropriate resources are made available to provide continual progress towards the fulfilment of the plant objectives.
* The achievement of its facility-specific performance and EHSQS objectives and targets.
* Continuously improve plant EHSQS culture and performance by ensuring corporate/plant EHSQS policies and procedures are followed, positively communicating, and remediating any issues in a timely manner with stakeholder feedback, and being a key leading resource in plant and regional ESHQS committees and similar meetings.
* Model and instil T&L values within your team.
* Accountable to lead efforts in creating an environment of continuous improvement and teamwork by gathering full involvement and participation of all available resources within operations teams with a focus on streamlining processes, reducing excess consumption, and minimizing overall costs.
* Work with plant teams to identify and implement improvement projects around EHSQS, cost reduction and efficiency.
* Lead the implementation of the Journey to Excellence.
* Serve as Operation subject matter expert for providing guidance/advice to key stakeholders.
* Ensure that facilities under responsibility maintain GFSI/ISO certifications and operate under all other certifications standards at the top performance level.
* Responsible for all maintenance programs and activities, ensuring execution in accordance with T&L policies and all regulatory standards.
* Assure all improve needs of EHS at the plant are implemented. Ensure all EHS regulatory requirements are complying.
* Lead Quality performance in the plant. Assure all finished products are shipped within their final product quality specifications, regulatory and are safe to consume.
* Plant Manager support all the EHSQS Group and activities.
* Assure all plant deliveries are met. Report and correct deviations.
* Assure plant manufacturing costs are met.
* Assure capital projects improve EHS, quality, food safety, maintenance, ease of operation, cost, ingredient usage, and are on budget and time.
* Lead change management at the plant.
* Monitor the plant performance, oversee the performance and reporting of daily, weekly and monthly review of all KPI's via direct reports.
* Drive initiatives at their facilities of responsibility derived from regional and global team.
* Partner with plant and regional teams to further improve upon KPIs as part of a proactive continuous improvement program.
* Drive requirements and solutions with all internal stakeholders such as HR, Quality, Planning, Logistics, Procurement, Global teams to support customers’ requirements.
* Maintain regular communications with direct reports and ensure a high level of support and engagement within the team.
* Communicate and educate workforce on critical plant information.
* Develop talent and workforce at the plant. Define succession plans for critical roles.
* Other duties as assigned by line director.
COMPETENCIES:
* Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Engineering, Business management, Food Science, Chemistry or equivalent work experiences in progressive plant operations management is required (in a food manufacturing plant is preferred).
* 5+ years’ experience as a people manager.
* Brazil professional registration is required.
* Knowledge in manufacturing GFSI standard, EHSQ policies and regulatory requirements.
* Lean Six-Sigma project experience or certification preferred.
* Effective communicator in Portuguese, both verbally and written.
* Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
* Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
* A working knowledge of computers and business software such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SAP is required.
* Good problem-solving skills.
* Experience with capex and project management/execution of projects.
* Ability to plan, execute actions, and coordinate individuals/teams to meet objectives.
* Commitment to continuous improvement.
* Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects concurrently with an ability to discern prioritize work accordingly (high vs. low; value added vs. non-value added).
* This candidate must be able to successfully work with all plant teams under their responsibility and appropriately influence multidisciplinary personnel within corporate support structure.
* Strong budget, people development and management skills.
* Ability to work with a high degree of integrity and respect for our products and people.
