POSITION SUMMARY: The Assistant/Associate Director of Student Engagement coordinates a vibrant campus engagement program. They must have a genuine passion for working with and supporting students in their academic, professional, and personal development; knowledge and understanding of student development; the ability to serve as a collaborative team member; build relationships across the institution and with external vendors; demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives independently; and experience with advising, budget management, event planning, risk management, and contract negotiation. The nature of this position requires considerable evening and weekend hours. During the academic year the Assistant/Associate Director will not hold typical M-F hours as defined by the University.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead a comprehensive student engagement program.
Advise Moravian Activities Council (MAC), the activities program board, in planning and implementing a full and comprehensive calendar of events:
Attend and support all MAC-sponsored events including but not limited to late night events and off campus trips.
Assist in the coordination of MAC's planning for large-scale events.
Coordinate and implement ongoing training for the MAC executive board.
Create Event Reports that debrief events and include future recommendations.
Monitor MAC-related budgets.
Advise United Student Government (USG)
Attend and support all USG-sponsored events.
Work with the group on policy development and oversight.
Oversee the Student Trustee election process.
Provide ongoing support and development for student leaders in MAC and USG through weekly meetings, one-on-one conversations, and informal interactions.
Provide general oversight of all student clubs and organizations:
Provide training and guidance to all club and organization advisors;
Manage compliance trainings and records for club and organization advisors;
Serve as a resource to student organizations: meet with students planning events to provide assistance with event details, budgeting, advertising, set-up requests, relevant University policies and acts as a liaison between University offices.
In consultation with the Director of Campus Life, assist students with the process of beginning a new club/organization as well as coordinating the annual "renewal" process for student organizations in conjunction with USG;
Maintain event records and reports that include future recommendations.
Monitor all club and organization budgets.
Advise the campus yearbook, Benigna.
Conduct regular assessments of student programming and other student involvement efforts and activities.
Lead efforts in the planning and execution of University-wide fests including Fall Fest and Spring Fest.
Manage Crowd Change, the online fundraising process for clubs and organizations.
Develop and manage the Student Engagement social media account.
Perform other related tasks as assigned.
STUDENT LIFE RELATED RESPONSIBILITIES:
Be knowledgeable of, interpret, support, and enforce University policies.
Support the University's Behavioral Intervention Team and assist in the counseling of students on personal and development matters.
Work in collaboration with offices within the Student Life Division.
Assist with Student Life and University projects and committees, as assigned.
Perform other Student Life related tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree in a related field preferred.
Experience advising Student Government strongly preferred;
Related experience in student engagement on a University campus;
Well-defined oral and written communication skills;
High energy and a commitment to student development;
Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office, Google apps and social media platforms.
