Job DescriptionResponsibilities: T he Customs Classification and Data SpecialistHTS Classification: Accurately classify products considering all regulations, customs rulings, and tariff changes.
Ensure compliance with global customs laws and regulations, including special trade programs, duty relief, and other regulatory requirements.Product Review & Documentation: Collaborate with product management, engineering, and procurement teams to gather technical data and understand product specifications for accurate classification.
Maintain comprehensive classification documentation to support audits and inquiries.SAP GTS: Manage HTS data in the company's global trade compliance systems and ensure all systems are up-to-date with the latest product classification information.Audit & Reporting: Assist in the development and execution of HTS classification audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Prepare reports to support external audits.Risk Mitigation: Identify and mitigate potential risks related to incorrect product classification, including potential delays, fines, or penalties.Training & Support: Provide training and guidance to internal teams on HTS classification and global trade compliance best practices.
Act as the subject matter expert on customs classification for the organization.Collaboration: Work closely with wider CETC team, customs brokers, legal teams, logistics, and supply chain departments to assist in resolving customs data-related issues.Supports external Customs audits.Required competencies and skills:Has a strong knowledge of customs legislation with a particular focus on HTS classification.Has extensive digital and data literacy.Has proven experience in trade compliance and internal auditing.Is familiar with wider customs-relevant data.SAP GTS experience preferred.Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, Business Administration or a related field.Preferred:Certification in customs compliance (e.g., Licensed Customs Broker, Certified Customs Specialist).Active experience as a customs specialist, working in a large or medium-sized company.
