Icebolethu Group is calling for suitable candidates to apply for the permanent position of Fleet Manager within the Fleet Department. The position will be based at our Fleet Centre in Westmead, Pinetown; the successful candidate will be required to perform tasks supporting Fleet.
Minimum Qualifications
* Degree in Logistics, Operations and Business Management or equivalent.
* Valid driver’s licence
* Advanced driving qualification will be added advantage
Experience and Knowledge required
* Minimum of 3 years in a logistic management role.
* Working knowledge of computer applications and fleet management systems
* At least 3 years of corporate/business driving experience and/or 5 years working in a supervisory and/or managerial role.

Key Performance Areas:
* Maintain departmental compliance with company policies and procedures.
* To maintain fleet compliance, commercial fleets must complete daily Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR).
* Keeping a log of completed DVIRs is critical to passing a DOT audit or road check.
* Creating a fleet management KPI to target thorough inspections is one of the best ways to maintain compliance.
* Monitoring completion rates in fleet management software ensures your drivers are keeping up with compliance and keeps you informed of any vehicles that require maintenance.
* Ensure compliance of the company with government regulations that have to do with the transportation industry.
* Take preventive measures to improve health safety whilst minimizing Injuries on Duty.
* Take part in different workshops and/or programs to keep up with new trends in the industry.
* Manager normally makes use of fleet management software to regulate data collection and recording procedures which helps in monitoring vehicle performance.
* Screening and analysing acquired data to be able to take necessary measures to reduce operational costs.
* Monitor fuel purchases by administering fuel cards for all vehicles to their respective drivers to regulate costs/expenses.
* Ensure Department is adequately staffed, timesheets are captured and submitted to Remunerations and Benefits for processing.
* The selection of appropriate vehicles, maintaining them, and making sure that they are in good shape to carry out their functions.
* Making sure that required vehicles are in top shape so that the company will be able to distribute their products or render service effectively at a minimal cost.
* Scheduling programs that will help in maintaining the vehicles’ operational abilities and prolonging their lifespan.
* Uses certain devices to monitor the driving patterns of drivers, such as over speeding and excessive application of brakes.
* Makes use of GPS systems to know the particular location of vehicles which increases the possibility of the vehicles being tracked or found in case they are stolen.
* GPS systems also assist fleet managers in taking necessary actions in a situation where there is a delay in delivery.
* Make sure that all vehicles are properly registered; carry out inspections on a regular basis.
* To decide the vehicle to buy (the ones that best suit the needs of the company at that particular point in time).
* Decide the vehicles to be bought and how they are to be equipped.
* Oversee the sale and/or auction of used vehicles as at when due.
* Deciding the method via which the financing of the fleet will be done.
* After acquired vehicles have been used to their maximum capacity, it is the manager that negotiates and makes the necessary arrangements to ensure that the used vehicles are re-sold at the highest possible price in a bid to recoup some funds back for the company.
* Creating a service department within the company or appointing an external auto-service centre to handle the maintenance of the vehicles and the supply of spare parts if the need arises.
* In a bid to manage time effectively, he/she negotiates a strict vehicle-servicing time limit with the auto-service centre(s).
* Makes sure that the vehicles are serviced regularly in order to keep up with deliveries to customers, hence maintaining or even surpassing revenue levels of the company.
* Implement and enforce transportation scheduling and policy changes.
* Manager’s functions also involve creating and managing fleet policies and/or procedures, which include assigning vehicles to drivers and managing accident reports.
