Demonstrated category expertise in R&D with category expertise in Laboratory Testing, Method Development, Clinical Central Laboratories, or any related categories is required for this role.This new role will have a unique opportunity to build and shape category strategies from Discovery to Development.Reports to: Director of R&D ProcurementDirect reports: Individual contributor rolePrimary accountabilities:Provide single point of accountability for Analytical R&D categories, providing overall strategy and alignment on goals with internal customers and cross-functional procurement priorities.Lead the development of global category strategies that meet long-term business needs that drive ongoing value, continuous improvement, and comply with global procurement policies, processes, and tools.Serve as a thought partner to Business leaders to ensure their category strategies are complete, rigorous, and will satisfy needs.Solicit business unit input to ensure internal customer satisfaction with the performance of category procurement teams and take action on areas for improvement.Metrics and performance indicators:Category Management Plan and Execution supporting the portfolioDelivery of People, Process, Governance and Value delivery goals.Meet agreed-upon operational budget for procurement.Meet or exceed agreed-upon service level expectations.Supplier performance – at or above expectation across balanced scorecard.Organizational and employee development.QualificationsProcurement experience: 3-5 years; Pharma industry experience: 5+ years preferred.Overall portfolio of experience in R&D areas will be considered.Demonstrated expertise in R&D Procurement in pharmaceutical or life sciences.Bachelor's degree in sciences, business, supply chain, materials management, or engineering is desirable.MBA or relevant MS degree preferred.Leadership capabilities and strategic thinking, strong interpersonal skills including cross-functional teamwork, and written and oral communication skills, strong negotiation skills, exceptional analytical skills, strong multi-cultural skills, high energy level, and a bias towards action.Sensitivity to the cultural diversity of a global organization.Ability to draw strategic insights from analysis and effectively summarize and present insights.Ability to quantify financial benefits for identified opportunities and initiatives.Familiarity with specific category group “Services” for R&D.Familiarity with Procurement systems such as SAP, Ariba is preferred.Solid understanding of procurement best practices.Understanding of international business and contract law.MS Office skilled (e.g., Excel and PowerPoint).Additional InformationApplicable only to applicants applying to a position in any location with pay disclosure requirements under state or local law:The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position.
